Friday 9th December 2022 – Christmas Meeting

We met at the Fillongley Village Hall again, an excellent night attended by most members of the club in a great atmosphere. Refreshments and Christmas snacks were on hand, and thanks to all of those who went the extra mile to bring something a bit extra! The 20m EFHW antenna went up as usual together with the FT 857, but was a little neglected due to the ever popular Christmas Quiz drawn up by Dave G8OMB. Thanks David, and congratulations Jim G4AEH on getting fewer wrong answers than anyone else!

One of highlights of the evening was the Club’s proposed Christmas present to itself. This was to meet many members’ wishes to move the club to a location closer to Nuneaton, on higher ground for better radio propagation, with car parking and with space for permanent antennas – far from an easy ask! Al showed maps and pictures (below) of the proposed venue and discussed the benefits, implications and problems still to be addressed. It was hoped that our Christmas present could be unwrapped at the AGM in January!
